What Are Three Ways to Remove the Stress from your Backyard?

Now that it’s getting cooler outside and the holidays approach us, it’s a great time to take stock of your current situation to see how you can improve it. One of the main resolutions many people will have for 2014 is to lower stress. Stress can not only have an effect on your daily life and mood  – it could eventually lead to a host of different acute and chronic illnesses. Therefore, reducing stress could lead to a much happier life, and who doesn’t want that? But where do you begin? We’ll make the case that you should start in the backyard.  Here’s why:

What are the triggers that cause stress? For many, they’re things that take place outside of the home. Just think of all the things that you can’t control in your life. From bad traffic to a tense workplace, there are so many stress-inducing factors out there, so you’ll need a place to take a break from these external threats. Therefore, many people will choose to make this place their home. One of the easiest ways to get started getting rid of the stress in your home is tackling the backyard. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Protect your backyard from winter’s wrath: One of the most bittersweet moments in the year is the first warm day after winter and seeing what’s happened to your landscaping and outdoor accessories. Snow and ice are not too kind to outdoor furniture and planters, so if you can, bring these inside. At the very least, make sure to cover them.
  • Build a new fence for privacy: Exposure is not usually in the equation for anxiety-relief. It can be tough to act like yourself and spend time with your friends and family when anybody can see you.  Building an aluminum fence or vinyl fence around your backyard is the best way to ensure privacy as well as security in your home. You can save money (another way to reduce stress) by shopping our latest Fall clearance items.
  • Start a garden: Ask anybody why they garden and they’ll inevitably start talking about how it relaxes them. Gardening is a way to go in the dark from technology and modern life to reconnect with nature. You’ll get some sun, burn some calories, and eventually reap the benefits through a bountiful harvest or beautiful plants. However, not having a plan or being too complicated can cause more stress than it’s worth. Now is the time to start the planning process for a smooth spring.

Relaxation starts with the backyard. Use these and many other tips to create the perfect stress-free backyard for 2014 and beyond.

There’s no question that Black Friday has become a holiday in its own right. Minutes after the final piece of turkey is eaten and the final seconds of the final NFL game click down to 0, people scurry to their cars to stand in line at the mall or some Big Box department store. Many of those who don’t do this will invariably spend some money on Cyber Monday because all they have to do is open their browser. This is the time of year for crazy amounts of shopping.

And why do people do this? Many will say because they need to get Christmas gifts for their family (which is true for some), but a growing number of people are just standing in line in the cold, racing to find parking spots in crowded lots, and fighting over the last 75 inch plasma to get stuff for themselves. That’s because Black Friday sales offer significant discounts to encourage people to come in their stores.

At Fence Center, we have no problem with saving a little money. In fact, we encourage it. That’s how we got started in the first place. We saw the potential for an online fencing materials company that could offer the lowest prices because there wouldn’t be the overhead that there is in a brick and mortar store. At Fence Center, you will find the lowest prices on fence materials.

And because 2013 is coming to an end, you’ll find deep discounts on many fencing materials in our Clearance Section as we make room for next year’s inventory. Although the weather might be a little cold to start a project now for many, it’s never too cold – or too early for that matter – to get your fencing materials. Why not get those materials at a deep discount? Here are some other advantages of shopping with us:

Buying Your Fence from the Comfort of your Own Home

There’s no question that buying a fence can be intimidating at first glance. You have to figure out the type of fence, get your measurements right and go over neighborhood statutes and community zoning laws. You’ll also need to find a place that will sell you your fence at a price that won’t break your budget. It can be downright nerve-wracking if you’re not too careful.

In response to these concerns, one trend that has emerged is the increased acceptance of purchasing fence materials online. This is the very reason Fence Center was founded. As more and more people use the internet to pay their bills and complete other errands in their lives, we saw an opportunity to expand this pervasive use of the internet into home improvement.

Here are just some of the advantages you’ll find when shopping online for your fence:

You won’t have to worry about getting ready: Depending on where you live, going to your home improvement store can be a hassle. You have to deal with driving there, finding a parking spot and trying to navigate the warehouse-like setup.  And that’s if you only go to one. More likely, you’ll want to go to several to make sure you’re getting good value. Rather than deal with all of these things, shopping online allows you to shop anywhere you have an internet connection.

You can shop when you want: We all live busy lives. Making time to shop for a fence can be very inconvenient. That’s probably why hardware stores are as busy on Saturdays as they are usually the only day in the week where shopping is possible. Having the opportunity to shop online puts the power back into the consumers’ hands to shop on their own schedule.

You can get great prices: Because you’re shopping online, you’ll often find better prices than you would at a traditional brick and mortar store. That’s because there’s less overhead.  When you shop at Fence Center for bamboo fencing or whatever fence you’re looking for, you can rest assured that you won’t find fencing materials cheaper anywhere else.

Delivery Right to your Door: When you shop online, your order comes to you.The only thing you need to do is wait. When you purchase fencing materials from the store, you’ll most likely be responsible for bringing those materials home. This could take several trips with your truck or the help of some very generous friends.

You can get an estimate right away: Our Fence Estimator program allows customers to get an estimate on their plan right away. You can pick the material and the type of fence, which will then provide you with many different choices. From there, you’ll have the opportunity to draw the fence, indicate the number of gates you need and select your fence attributes to get your estimate immediately.

Reduce the Stress in Your Life Through These Simple Home Solutions?

shutterstock_10425517

Do you find that you’re more stressed than usual? If so, you might want to rethink your home’s décor. It might be the best place to reduce your overall stress. Unfortunately, our work lives may not be conducive to a stress-free environment. The Huffington Post recently released an infographic on just how much our work environment impacts our stress-levels, and the numbers are quite shocking.

According to the post, eight out of ten Americans experience high levels of stress at their jobs, and this could be slowly killing them. Those who work 11 hour days or longer have a greater chance of depression, and those who sit in front of a computer for a long period of time are more likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease.

However, what is even more disconcerting is the fact that workers who are stressed also bring their stress home. Your home is supposed to be your refuge from the stressors that might occur during your daily work life, so it’s important to foster a relaxing environment when you’re at home. Here are several ideas to keep in mind:

  • Remove Stress through the Right Security Measures: Making sure your children or pets are safe is your top priority, and it can be a serious source of stress. Protecting your children and pets from leaving your yard or having others come in your yard through a chain link fence is a fantastic way to remove this stress. We chose a chain link fence because chain link fence prices are generally cheaper than other types of fences – money is a stress for many as well. You’ll be able to keep your children safe, so you can remove that worry from your mind.
  • Decorate your Home with Soothing Colors: According to one Minnesota State University study, color has a major impact on how we perceive stress. Did you know, for example, that rooms with a large amount of bright red will trigger a far greater stress response than those rooms with a blue or green shade? If you’re looking for more calm energies through your color schemes, opt for shades of blue and muted shades of other colors.
  • Keep your Home as Green as Possible: People who interact with nature on a frequent basis are more likely to be less anxious than those who depend on artificial lighting and see nature through a window. Don’t have enough time to spend in nature? Why not look into getting more nature in your own home through simple houseplants. Houseplants can help purify the air and bring a calming presence to your home.

There’s no doubt that work can be stressful. Your home life shouldn’t be if you can help it. Hopefully these tips help to calm your mind.
